This is an AODA compliant cookbook featuring Italian cuisine. It contains four different recipes of classic Italian dishes, including Calzone and Chicken Parmesan. The biggest challenge of this project was balancing design that was both aesthetically pleasing and accessible to read for many people. The aspects I had to pay the most attention to when it came to this balance include line length, colour contrast, and typeface anatomy.
There is also a mobile app to coincide with the cookbook where people can find the best of Italian cuisine. People have been making cookbooks on Italian food for decades, so the amount of options to choose from can feel overwhelming to most people who are new to cooking. This app serves as an introduction to Italian cuisine that is accessible to new cooks. The app achieves this by searching for the most popular recipes that are found in existing Italian cookbooks.
This project served as my introduction to both Figma and Adobe InDesign, with both softwares having me face a difficult learning curve throughout the design process. This project also taught me about AODA compliance, which I now incorporate into all of my design projects to some degree. Most importantly, this project gave me the opportunity to take a design concept and integrate it into multiple different mediums.
Below, you will be able to interact with my Italian cookbook, and the prototype of my cookbook app.
